March 29, 2025 - 70 miles, 800 ft elevation, Cleveland, TX to Lumberton, TX
We thought we were done with the rain for now. But not so much. It was much lighter rain but persisted for much of the day. But no big deal. The rollers are over and it was flat, flat, flat! Beautiful pavement greeted us and we had some stretches of great tree cover blocking the nearly-constant wind in the face. It really started feeling like we were in Louisiana, not Texas.
I was coordinating with Suzzy to see the kids towards the end. Martin, Norman, and I left lunch a bit late. So I was anxious to put the hammer down and catch the front group. It turns out, we didn’t see them until about 1.5 miles to go, up ahead about a half mile. Martin gave me a pull that might have been full effort for him, it definitely was for me and we caught them at the final corner. That was max effort for me just to hang on.

This is our last night in Texas! Tomorrow comes with an entry into Louisiana and the end of our fourth week.
