April 6, 2025 - 32 miles, 500 ft elevation, Wiggins, MS to Gulf Shores, AL (ferry service cancelled due to winds)

A major storm system has been impacting the Midwest and south and it is coming our way.  The game plan is to get to the ferry in Dauphin Island before they shut it down.

We get on the road at 7:45 AM together and hope for the best.  It’s just a few miles of headwind getting up and over a bridge before turning east on a flat stretch with lots of trees protecting us from the crosswind.  We cruised toward Heron Bay with high hopes.  We crossed over from Mississippi into Alabama, state number 7.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be.  So we had to load all the bikes and head toward Gulf Shores by car.
