March 20, 2025 - 42 miles, 1200 ft elevation, almost Del Rio, TX to Del Rio, TX

Thursday was largely a rest day after the big day before.  The winds shifted as expected in our face but our ride was done for the day before it got too bad.  It wasn’t easy for the miles we rode but it was only 42 miles so a nice recovery day.

As we get toward Del Rio, it is becoming increasingly clear that we are leaving the last of the deserts on our journey.  We saw grass on the side of the road for the first time since San Diego.

Notably, we’ve been riding on the Mexico border for hundreds of miles on and off.  This will be the last day on the border before we head inland.

I’m relieved the day that was supposed to be 120 miles is over.  Del Rio is bigger than I thought.  We had amazing BBQ at Rudy’s across the street.
