March 13, 2025 - 72 miles, 900 ft elevation, Columbus, NM to El Paso, TX

Day 12 started cold.  It was the first day in more than a week when a long-sleeved jersey seemed appropriate.  Strong westerly winds were in the forecast but never materialized while we rode until 1:30.

I might be starting to get in better fitness.  We were going a bit easier today and I felt myself getting restless.

Not much elevation.  We hit the last water stop with a dozen or miles to go before entering Texas.  We had a few miles of a nice fast descent and then about 10 miles of up-and-down suburban El Paso traffic pushing until crossing over the Rio Grande.

Besides another day in the saddle, Thursday marks a super exciting arrival of most of the McLean clan (Suzzy with Liam (9), Emma (7), Alex (3)) along with the guest appearance of Joe Tansey for two days of riding.

As we were finishing dinner, a significant dust storm kicked up.  We all were tasting and smelling the dust inside the restaurant!!!  This does not bode well for the next day.
